PHILOSOPHY

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is a modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine that originated in Ancient China over 5,000 years ago.  The Ancient Chinese discovered that every living being has energy that flows through invisible meridians (energy lines) throughout the body.  This energy, known as "Qi" is the motive life force.  In healthy individuals the Qi flows smoothly through the channels/ meridians.  Imbalance in the flow of Qi results in pain, illness and/or disease.

The same basic principles are used in treating various conditions, today.  Acupuncture can be used a sole method of treatment, but also works well as an adjuct therapy.

Acupuncture stimulates the bodies natural healing properties in order to treat the root cause of an illness/disease, not just the symptoms.

GUA SHA

"Let food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food." - Hippcrates

Nutrition and dietary therapy plays an important role in Chinese Medicine.  For thousands of years, the Chinese have known the link between food and overall health. Dietary therapy can be used not only for weight loss, but also as a treatment for illness and disease prevention.  Each food is categorized by it's energetic properties.  Based on this and your Chinese Medical diagnosis, individualized foods/meal plans can be recommended to treat your specific condition.

Gua Sha is another modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine in which a special tool is used to press-stroke the surface of the skin in a unilateral direction to induce therapeutic petechia (also known as "sha").
